Well hay there, Mr. Claus!
I’m about to finish out my second year here at this farm and it’s been a mighty fine run. I had been part of a trade deal and ended up living with hogs. It wasn’t pretty. I have good friends here, although … may I be honest? Marguerite has this snooty “I’m prettier than you” attitude. I say, spitting is not pretty so she really ought to be more self-aware.
Eh? Did you say something Mr. Claus? No, let’s please forget what happened on shearing day. Everyone said, “oh Pearl, she’s such a sweetheart, she never spits,” which meant that I had to prove that I know how to spit.
And while we’re at it- I need to make a special request. I hated my haircut last shearing day. Here is a photo – just look how ugly and unstylish it is. Do you see what I mean? It took months for it to grow out again. PLEASE speak to my hairdresser because I got a lot of snarky comments on my insta page.
Santa (may I call you that?), I’m what is called a Suri alpaca. Sometimes our fiber just doesn’t grow as long or as fast as the Huacayas (that is what Marguerite is, and she never lets me forget it). So what happens? I get cold. I have a coat right now. It’s a hand-me-down from I don’t know who, and it’s ok but the straps around the back of the legs are too long which is not good and they are uncomfortable – and it’s ripped in a few places. While we’re talking about things that aren’t in the best of shape, you should SEE our lead ropes. We used to have a lot of nice ones. I don’t know where they get to. I walk very nicely on a lead, and someone told me that I might get to go out sometimes to do “outreach” (whatever that is) so I’ll need a very sporty looking rope.
OK, I know it’s winter and all that, but summer will be here before you know it and oh boy, do I just love to get sprayed by the hose. Some of ours have been around a long time and probably should be sent to the hose disposal center.
